Former Special Adviser to the Prime Minister

Mark McInnes has been a leading Campaign Director, Chief Executive, Political Strategist and Government Advisor for the last 25 years, culminating in his appointment as the Prime Minister’s Special Adviser in No10 Downing Street. He has served as a parliamentarian since 2016 when he was appointed to the House of Lords.  Mark has served on three select committees as well as being appointed a Party Whip.

Whilst having both the strategic insight and campaigning ability required in his previous roles, Mark also served in elected office on Edinburgh City Council for 14 years, which gave him valuable insight into the importance of Local Government.

It was widely acknowledged that Mark played a crucial role in both the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum and the subsequent rejuvenation of the Scottish Conservatives. During this time Mark worked closely on a cross party basis with politicians from all of the United Kingdom’s main parties.   He has served as a constitutional advisor to three British Prime Ministers, designing and implementing strategies to strengthen the constitutional settlement in the United Kingdom.

Mark has taken a keen interest in international affairs and governance during his time in parliament.  He is involved in a number of International all party groups, including chairing the Turkey APPG.
