Jacqui Smith

First Female Home Secretary, Former Minister and MP

Rt Hon Jacqui Smith was the UK’s first female Home Secretary (Interior Minister) from 2007-9.  She was elected to Parliament as MP for Redditch in 1997 and became a Minister in 1999 serving in the Education, Health, Industry and Equality portfolios and in the Cabinet as Chief Whip before becoming Home Secretary.

She is currently Chair in Common of Barts Health and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University NHS Trust and Chair of Sandwell Children’s Trust.  She chairs the Jo Cox Foundation and is a Trustee of the Kings Fund.

Jacqui has worked with GPG in Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon and particularly specialises in parliamentary development and working directly with Ministers using her wide political and governmental experience.

She is in demand as a media commentator with a weekly slot on Good Morning Britain and regular appearances on Steph’s Packed Lunch and  through her weekly podcast – For the Many.  Jacqui was a competitor on the 2020 series of Strictly Come Dancing!

She has carried out consultancy work with a range of UK and international clients and is a well-respected political commentator with her own weekly podcast.  She has advised and trained politicians and senior officials in Jordan, Iraq, Tanzania, Egypt and Nigeria. She is a qualified executive coach with clients in the public, voluntary and private sectors.
